How is the life? How is the work?
The residency is very hectic. As all surgeries on pediatric patients come with a great pressure of positive outcomes. And all pediatric patients have narrow physiological threshold for tolerance post-surgery. Hence, the pressure. But the work hours and work pressure are quite similar to other super specialty surgery branches like Neurosurgery and CTVS.  So, if you are a person who can handle that, then you can be a successful pediatric surgeon.
Which hospital is better between Sir Gangaram and Lilavati?
Sir Gangaram is definitely better than Lilavati in terms of brand name, stipend and exposure.
Can I work outside to get more exposure during the course?
No, you will not find any extra time during your pediatric surgery residency to work outside during your residency.
Can I learn general surgery also during the course?
You will get your General Surgery posting during the integrated pediatric surgery course.
How is the future?
Usually, pediatric surgery is not a very lucrative branch to corporate hospitals in terms of profits, hence jobs are lesser in number. Usually, pediatric surgeons have to practice as freelancers between 2-3 hospitals. But definitely there is a demand for good pediatric surgeons in big cities because educated families prefer consulting a pediatric surgeon than a general surgeon.
What is the passing rate in DNB pediatric surgery?
DNB Pediatric Surgery has a very good passing rate.
Passing rate DNB Pediatric Surgery June 2021: 100%
Passing rate DNB Pediatric Surgery Dec 2020: 57.89%
Passing rate DNB Pediatric Surgery June 2020: 100%

How are the studies?
Studies are manageable, it is always good to study on the go since the start, rather than getting overwhelmed just before the exams
Is it wise to choose this branch?
DNB Pediatric Surgery should never be a first option in my view, it is always a fallback option. It is anyday better than just being a General surgeon in a big city and facing tough competition.
