Full form of DNB

Full form of DNB is Diplomate of National Board (DNB). It is a post-graduate master’s degree that is equivalent to MD/MS degrees granted to Specialist Medical Doctors of India following completion of a 3 years of residency. DNB degree is offered for broad specialties like General Surgery, General Medicine, Anesthesiology etc. DNB courses are offered and degrees are granted by the National Board of Examinations (NBE), New Delhi which is an independent academic body that is part of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India to candidates upon successful complete their postgraduate training. Students who have completed an MD/MS degree in their particular field can also take part in the DNB exit exam, as are regular DNB students.

Full Form of DrNB

The full form of DrNB is Doctorate of National Board (DrNB). It is a super specialty degree which is awarded by NBE after finishing 3 years senior residency post MD/MS/DNB. It is equal to Doctorate of Medicine (DM) and Master of Chirurgiae (MCh) degrees awarded respectively in medical and surgical super specialities.

Examinations required to be cleared to obtain DNB and DrNB Degree

For DNB Degree following are the exams

  • Entrance Exam: NEET PG (It is a Single window entrance examination for admission to MD/MS/PG Diploma and Post MBBS DNB Courses)
  • Exit Exam: DNB Exit Exam or DNB Final Exam

For DrNB Degree following are the exams

  • Entrance Exam: NEET SS (It is a single window entrance examination for admission to DM/MCh and DrNB Superspecialty Courses)
  • Exit Exam: DrNb Exit Exam or DrNB Final Exam
